Governor Deval Patrick recently took a trip overseas and received repeated requests about tours for movie location sites in the Baystate. Here at Boston Movie Tours, we've seen that recent Oscar nominees The Town, The Social Network and The Boxer have been big drivers for the guests interested in the 2011 season.
“We’ve had a number of questions about tours of destinations that have been used in the movie industry,” said the governor. The governor says there’s a lot of interest in seeing the spots that have shown up recently on the big screen.

The boxer?
I think it's the movie "The Fighter" not The Boxer. The movie was filmed on location in Ward's hometown of Lowell, Massachusetts. Visiting the actual movie location can help improve the state's economy.

That's what I also thought iand. It's the movie The Fighter. Hollywood and Times Square are two of the best examples of this kind of tourism. Both are easily recognizable in U.S. films.
The question now guys is whether the state can use the same magic formula that put Hollywood on the map. Just a trivia: The movie The Social Network includes film locations at Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Another example is the movie Australia. Tourism Australia was able to launch a new campaign that includes movie maps and location guides for a unique travel adventure. The campaign aims to convince tourists to see the country as a destination.

This is one advantage of having a great movie shot at your area. They can be converted and promoted to instant tourist spots.
