Kimmel's Retalliation

Not too long ago, Comedy Central's Sarah Silverman created a music video letting her boyfriend, Jimmy Kimmel know that she was *$@&^!%'ing Matt Damon.

Once he got over the bon-bons and cheesy romantic comedy movie phase, Kimmell retalliated with Damon's Boston best bud and Gone Baby Gone director, Ben Affleck. The all-star cast of A-listers he called on to help included Lance Bass, Cameron Diaz, Josh Groban, and Robin Williams, who starred with both Damon and Affleck in the award winning Good Will Hunting.

Here they are, making Boston proud.

The Proposal and Sandra Bullock

Another romantic comedy is coming to Beantown this spring. The Proposal stars Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

Bullock plays a pushy boss who marries her young assistant in order to keep her Visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation to Canada.

The scouting team has reportedly been seen around Boston trying to find condos with very big bathrooms. Hmm.

Garner Filming at Sonsie

Newbury Street got a little bit of the Hollywood taste on Weds with the filming of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.

Stars Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner filmed at the hip eatery Sonsie according to the Boston Herald's Inside Track. Sonsie was also featured a few years back in Fever Pitch with Drew Berrymore and Jimmy Fallon.

In Boston, "On Broadway"

T
here is nothing better than seeing a movie filmed in Boston, about Boston, using Boston actors. It's not too often that a great movie having all of the qualifications crosses our cinematic paths, but coming next month, On Broadway will hit the screens of Boston. Being called "the Next Good Will Hunting" by those who have screened the movie, all of us here at Boston Movie Tours are excited to see the film.

On Broadway tells the story of Jack O'Toole (played by New Kids on the Block's Joey McIntyre), a 30-something Boston everyman, who writes a play about his dead uncle as a way to reconnect with his own, embittered father. With no money, no know-how, and only his gut to guide him, Jack mounts the play on the only stage he can afford: in the back room of a neighborhood pub, on a little street called Broadway. In this humble setting, Jack uses his story of love and loss and laughter to unite his family and friends, demonstrating the power of the individual to create community, and the role that stories play in bringing people together and shaping our sense of identity, and of the possibilities that lie in every life.

The film also features Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, Mike O'Malley, and Robert Walhberg.

On Broadway will have its theatrical release in and around Boston on March 14, 2008 and will host its premiere on Wednesday March 12, 2008 at the Regal Fenway Stadium 13 in Boston as a charity screening and auction with proceeds to benefit The Joey Fund

The upcoming theatrical release comes after a highly successful year on the international film festival circuit, during which On Broadway took home high honors from festivals in the US and Ireland.

Definitely check this one out!

In what could be one of the funniest videos by a celeb this year, comic Sarah Silverman sings a love song to Boston homey Matt Damon as a joke on her boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel. It's one of the most viewed videos on youtube with over 4 million views as of today.

Parental discretion advised as there are lots of bleeped out F words.

After you are done, check out Jimmy Kimmel's video response w Ben Affleck.

A Little of Paris in Boston

Last week, Paris Hilton accepted the Lampoon's Woman of the Year award from Harvard University. Boston.com reports:

What's to recommend Britney Spears's ex-buddy for such an accolade? Here's a hint: It's not the videotape she famously made with Rick Salomon.

"They're honoring me for being in business and my acting," Hilton explained to us. (The Lampoon "award" is also a not-so-subtle jab at the high-minded Hasty Pudding Theatricals, which is giving its Woman of the Year Award to Oscar-winner Charlize Theron today and honoring actor Christopher Walken next week.)

Hilton's visit touched off something of a bidding war among local hotels. Originally booked to stay two nights at the Four Seasons, Hilton and her entourage switched at the last minute to the Liberty Hotel, where she was put up in its $5,500-a-night presidential suite at no charge. (We're told the staff stocked her room with pink flowers, fancy bath balms, and her favorite soda: Coca-Cola.) And Hilton seemed pleased that her mug shot is one of several celebrity booking photos hanging on the wall of the Liberty bar, Alibi, site of the former Charles Street Jail. Yesterday afternoon, she signed her mug shot and posed for a photo with Lindsey Lohan's."

The Liberty Hotel may be a celeb magnet now, but it has also been used as a filming location for works such as the Boondock Saints and The Boston Strangler.

Writers Strike Ends

It is over. The writers will be heading back to work after a 100-day walkout. Nearly 4000 writers turned out to cast ballots or fax in proxies. Over 90% voted in favor of ending the work stoppage.

For Boston related movies, that means production should continue with minimal effect this coming summer.

Patriots fall at Superbowl, but in good company

The New England Patriots may have had an upsetting loss on Sunday versus the New York Giants, but at least they were in good company. Owner Bob Kraft had such celebs as Fool's Gold's Kate Hudson, boston funny man Lenny Clarke, Curb Your Enthusiasm's Larry David, and Mike O'Malley. Brady's baby's mamma, Bridget Moynahan was not sitting high in the boxes to cheer on her ex-cutie, but model Gisele Bündchen was right there to catch all the action.

As Hollywood's finest watched the Pats go down for the count, there was only one thing on everyone's mind: 2 weeks until Spring Training!
